Overlooking the Cayuga-Seneca Canal
in historic Seneca Falls, NY
in the heart of the Finger Lakes Region

Mission Statement

The Seneca Museum of Waterways and Industry brings to life the industrial and canal history of Seneca Falls through its four dioramas, artifacts and large mural drawing and maps. The three floor museum shows how the harnessing of water power on the Seneca River gave rise to numerous industries making Seneca Falls the “fire engine capital of the world” and the “pump capital of North and South America ”. A full-sized packet boat plies the waters of a life-sized canal cross-section.

Visitors of all ages are engaged by interactive exhibits from the indoor waterfall to the working of hand pumps. The Museum works with area school students in hands-on programs which enhance their appreciation of the community's riches.

The Seneca Museum is handicapped-accessible including the elevator and bathrooms. The museum was opened in 1998 and is the newest museum in Seneca Falls .

The newly opened second floor hosts a classroom and an area that can be used by groups for meetings, showers or other events. For reservations call 315-568-1510 or e-mail staff@senecamuseum.com .
